Background

After 20 years of successful commercial experience in a wide range of companies, with 15 years centred on getting the best from teams of 5 to 100 PLUS, I have come to realise that I am outstandingly good at bringing the best out of people. I have constantly received emails and text messages and impromptu gestures, recognising the support and guidance that I have been able to provide and I now feel able and confident enough to combine my passion with my career. For those of you that have had a look at our DISCOVER! programme, I know that I am enough.

Throughout my life I’ve learned many things.

In my professional life, I’ve learned that not everybody has my view of common-sense and that you should be wary of assuming work colleagues are your friends. I’ve learned that people speak a strange language when at work that they don’t use at home. I’ve learned that people are unhealthily competitive and that morals and ethics can sometimes be sacrificed for personal gain. I’ve also learned that true success brings true rewards and that your experiences are capable of helping others.

In my personal life, I’ve learned about the pain of failed relationships, the unbridled joy and excitement of new relationships and the unconditional love that you have for your children which only another parent could truly understand. I’ve learned that you emerge stronger and wiser from traumatic events and that your experiences are capable of helping others.

What I’ve really learned is that my life is my life; professional or personal. You hear people say “when I’m at work I’m a completely different person”. Why is that? Can people really have 2 identities or is it merely that they exhibit different behaviours?


What is PLUS?

PLUS has been created out of a desire to provide the opportunities available from coaching to the widest possible audience. PLUS seeks to dispel the myth that coaching in business is only for the elite. Coaching is simply about improving performance through a desire to do so; providing more, difference or both. That’s it. It sounds easy but it can be incredibly significant. To the individual being coached, what is learned is usually far more powerful than that from a typical training course because it has actually come from them over a period of time; a building of awareness and personal understanding that will open up new possibilities for both them and the business they are in.

Being a coach however, is a skill. Coaches don’t direct, advise or teach; they assist, challenge and encourage. They do not tell you what to do. It’s not always possible (or advisable) to have individuals in the organisation coached by individuals in the organisation. Sometimes it’s too close, too directional. An independent view from someone who understands the business drivers yet who sees, hears and feels the potential within the individual must be a good thing.

 


At PLUS we want to provide all of these benefits to people that see things this way; People Like US. We don’t want to be geographically discriminatory either. We feel that you have the right to access our programmes wherever you are in the country. To do this, we have developed a national network of People Like US ; our +SPECIALists.

All of our +SPECIALists  have enjoyed commercial success and all are trained coaches. More than this though, all our +SPECIALists  share our mission and our ambition; they share our love of people and the power of choice.

In order to bring some commercial structure to our coaching work, we have developed a range of programmes that are designed for specific applications.

All of these will drive performance.

For example, if you have individuals who you know have real potential, then DISCOVER! will certainly help to unlock it to your benefit. If you have middle and senior managers who appear a bit “stuck”, then WORK will definitely open them up to be more creative and productive. If you are unfortunate enough to be in a position where you have to let someone go, yet you know that you want to make sure they get back on their feet quickly and that you maintain morale, then AFTER YOU will ensure that their identity is preserved and that their options are fully explored.
